Kinesiology Undergraduate Advising

Advisors in the Department of Kinesiology and Community Health are available to assist students with schedules, course selection, tutoring, special programs, and career information. Advisors are available by appointment for telephone or personal conferences and by e-mail.

The program of study in Kinesiology is in the Department of Kinesiology and Community Health. Kinesiology is an interdisciplinary program dedicated to the study of human movement. Required courses include Biomechanics of Human Movement, Human Physiology, and Motor Development, Growth and Form. Students can pursue a variety of careers including Physician Assistant, Physical Therapist, Occupational Therapist, Coach or Physician. A concentration in Physical Education Teacher Certification (K-12) is also available.

Kinesiology Academic Advising

Welcome to the Kinesiology Advising home page. We are happy to have the opportunity to work with you regarding your academic and career plans. If your last name begins with A-K, Cassie Meinert will be your academic advisor. If your last name begins with L-Z, Amy O'Neill will be your academic advisor. Our role is to assist you with registration and class selection, provide you with information about campus resources, discuss career interests, and help prepare you for life beyond the U of I.

We are located in 155 Freer Hall and can be reached via e-mail at cmeinert@illinois.edu (Cassie) or aroneill@illinois.edu (Amy) or via phone at 217-333-2461. In the Advising Office you will find a student friendly space which includes a study table, two computers with internet access, as well as informational postings throughout the office.

If you are a current Kinesiology student you will also receive a weekly e-newsletter, titled Kinesiology Advising Announcements. Make sure to read through the e-newsletter for exciting opportunities and important deadlines.

Please note that pre-registration appointments are mandatory for all Kinesiology students, with sign-up sheets available in the Advising Office each semester.
